In re: Report to Rutland Town Board

Hi everyone,

Sorry for the delay in reporting the results of Tuesday's meeting with the Rutland Town Board when Myron and Jean reported to the Board on our progress.  Here are the results of that meeting:

1. The Board approved our mission statement after adding a phrase about providing for the continuing preservation of the church along with its restoration.

2. The Board approved our brochure, having made some general suggestions and comments about how it could be tweaked.

3. They provided up to $570 for the printing of the brochure.  This money will not come out of our donated funds but will be provided by the Town.  We have a commitment from Woodward Printing in Oregon to print up to 5700 copies for that amount of money.  We believe that 10 cents per copy is much better than the 98 cents that Mark had found using Madison printers.

The Board also encouraged us to proceed with finding someone to do an assessment of the building's needs.  At the meeting we happened to meet a couple of local men who do restoration work and have connections with the Wisconsin Historical Society.  They are willing to help us for much less than the $2000 to $4000 we had discussed at the last meeting. Jean and Becca will be talking with these fellows and hope to have a report for you at the next committee meeting.

As Myron said, "Now I feel like we're getting somewhere!"

The minutes from the last meeting of the committee are available at http://www.rutlandchurch.org/minutes/minutes11-3-03.htm.  Those who are receiving this note by U.S. mail will also receive a copy of those minutes.

Note that the next meeting of our committee is scheduled for Dec. 4, 2003 from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. at the Oregon Historical Society.  We hope you can attend.

Mark and Jean
