B. Communications :
1. From Jennifer Ehle:
We will have copies of important information made and start filling material on behalf of the church and cemetery with the Oregon Historical Society.
  1. Worksheet received from Gary Corrigan, West Palm Beach, FL., re David C. Anthony (1806-1886), his wife Jane Runey, & parents Abraham Anthony & Elizabeth Hulsinger.

  2. Received an email from Sharon Taylor, tsd3@qwest.net, re her ancestor. Charles Henry Eager & his wife Emma (Munger) Eager Huie. She was surfing the net & found our website.

  3. I consulted with Art Olsen re the Cooksville Cemetery. He stated that they have no policies, regulations re the cemetery. I mailed him a copy of the Town of Rutland Cemetery Ordinance, Cemetery Regulations, and Policy.

  4. I consulted with Dawn George, Clerk, for the Town of Rutland, and received a copy of their Cemetery Ordinance, Cemetery Regulations and Policy. Jennifer will send copy of this material from Dawn. Does Mark have list of chores for Jennifer on the computer.
C. Old Business
  1. Hiring Beth Miller as our consultant to prepare nomination papers for state and national registers.
    1. Contract presented to Rutland Town Board on March 2, 2004. Signed that evening.
    2. Miller took pictures of structure on March 5. Jean reports "poking around" the church while Beth took the pictures. The pews used to be painted light blue. South back corner turned backwards, facing pot bellied stove. In middle longer pew turned backwards. That pew had been the pew they took out to make room for the little room.

  2. Work on building before registration is complete?
    1. Mark talked with Brian McCormick and Rick Dexter of Wisconsin Historical Society. See notes prepared separately from conversation with Dexter.
    2. Jean talked with Deanna Penkiunas about when the committee might get to our nomination papers.
    3. Invite Beth to the next meeting.
    4. We discussed the possibility of hold back on the nomination and doing some preliminary work.

  3. Repair items needed on the building and a wishlist: Mike Schmudlach

  4. Insurance on the building while we work: Jean was to contact Dale Beske. Town thinks we can have people who work on the project sign a disclaimer. Committee thinks that wouldn't hold up in court.

  5. Current donations to the project: Now at $13,176 as of 3/2/04.
Chuck suggested that we give Mrs. Watterman a certificate to recognize her contributions.
Suggested that Mark send a letter on behalf of the committee thanking her for her contribution.

D. New Business

  1. Donation to the project by the Anthony Family
Jean announced that the Herman Anthony Family has donated one acre of land to the Town of Rutland and the Rutland Center Church and Cemetery project.
-The land will be adjacent to the current cemetery on the west side of  the property.
-The piece will be approximately 79 feet wide and 550 feet long.
-The committee expressed great appreciation for this contribution.

  2. Next steps
    a. Get Mike nailed down and get read of what the church needs.
    b. Talk with Beth about delaying the nomination.
    c. Talk with Arlan Kay about being an architect on the job.

  3. Issues:
    a.  Rent out land or seed it down?
    b.  Road along front of church to back driveway?
    c.  Landscape plan?
